How I take care of myself in the current environment

Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.

We are living in very different times now and everyone has had to make some sort of lifestyle shift.  In keeping with others who have expressed their new ways of living, I’m adding to the conversation.  Here are some things I’m doing to maintain my health spiritually, emotionally and physically.  I hope there’s something here that inspires you!

A Consistent Spiritual Practice 

First things first.  A consistent spiritual practice is a must, and that’s been highlighted during this time of confinement.  No matter how you connect with your God, deity, orishas, etc. it is important to make that connection!  My spiritual practice consists of a daily protective Reiki light covering, prayers, meditations, wealth affirmations, brilliance statement and other statements that I make to myself.

Energy Healing

My current favorite is Reiki healing but there are many, many kinds of energy practices available.  I’ve also experience B.E.S.T., the Body Talk System, massage and other spa treatments.

Nature / Sunlight

Getting out in nature and taking in fresh air, sitting and/or walking in sunlight is an absolute must and I try to do that every day.  I either walk in the neighborhood or I take a little extra time and drive to an absolutely beautiful park near my home.  It’s a very popular location so I usually go in the morning on weekends.  

Food

I can’t stress enough how important it is to eat the cleanest food possible.  It’s also important to eat properly prepared food; I learned this during my autoimmune thyroid healing journey.  I shop at a local grocery store that sources mostly organic foods and pastured meats.  I also belong to a food group that sources food from farmers in the surrounding area.  I try and get sourdough breads (I normally get gluten-free) made the way bread is supposed to be made – grains are harvested, soaked and then baked.  Meats are from grass-fed and pastured animals.  Vegetables are grown with as few pesticides as possible.  It really does make a difference in how I feel when I eat well.  I keep sugar and salt to a minimum.

Exercise

I participate in various types of exercise to keep my body functioning as smooth as possible.  For me this includes yoga, dancing freely to music, stretching, personal training at the local gym, Bodyflow, walking, and other things that I can’t remember right now!  I like variety!

Lots of water!!!

I drink as much water as possible every day.  I have a Berkey filter so that I’m not polluting the Earth with tons of plastic bottles.  I keep my water mug filled (along with a slice of lemon) so that I can take sips throughout the day.  Taking Epsom salt baths is also important now, as well as getting near natural bodies of water if you are able to.

Supplements and Homeopathics

I have been taking various supplements prescribed by my integrative physician and they have been really helpful in the current environment including Vitamins C and D, calcium, zinc and selenium.  I also take Natural Calm in the evenings – the planet Uranus is very active right now (Uranus is the planet of electricity and awakening energy) and there are also geomagnetic storms happening – all of these affect our nervous system so it’s important to take care.  

Essential Oils 

Currently I use dōTerra OnGuard in my diffuser (mixed with Frankincense from time to time) and DDR Prime to bolster my immune system.  I also take one drop of OnGuard per day in warm lemon water for the same reason. Per the dōTerra website, onGuard “is a powerful proprietary blend that supports healthy immune function when used internally and contains cleansing properties.”  DDR Prime “is a proprietary blend of essential oils that supports healthy cellular integrity.”*  It is also “[p]rotective against oxidative stress.”  DDR Prime also supports “the health of the brain and nervous system.” I also will mix a few drops of Serenity with almond oil and rub it on the bottom of my feet at night; this also helps to calm the nerves.

Be Courageous

I make sure I’m guarding my emotions and feeling courageous in my personal life, especially as many, many changes are happening spiritually, astrologically and physically.  I make sure my emotional and spiritual health are well-tended to.  Sure, I have down days but most days I am feeling well, healthy and happy.  Keeping stress to a minimum is very important now.
